This dairy-free chocolate fondue is a family favorite on special occasions. But it really is simple enough to enjoy on any occasion. It’s as easy as putting the ingredients in your fondue pot, warming and stirring, and getting your “dippers” ready.

Not only is it delicious but gathering around the fondue pot is a fun activity for the whole family. Nothing will draw them to the table like this! 🙂

Ingredients and Equipment

You only need three ingredients to make this:

  • Dairy-free chocolate chips - Two of my favorite allergy-friendly chocolate chip options include Enjoy Life Foods and Nestle Allergen Free Baking Chips. I also recently found Great Value top 8 allergen-free chocolate chips at Walmart.
  • Dairy free milk  - You can use whatever milk substitute you like. I have used oat, rice, and soy milk and all of them work well.
  • Cooking oil - Any cooking oil will work here. I usually use canola oil.

A fondue pot is nice to have for this recipe but if you don’t have one, don’t worry! You can cook this on the stovetop and transfer it to a microwaveable dish for serving.

How to make it

Have I mentioned this is easy to make? Well, it is!

First, start by setting your fondue pot to warm or low. You don’t want to have the heat too high or the chocolate will burn.

If you don’t have a fondue pot, you can cook this on the stovetop in a small saucepan over medium-low heat.

Second, add the chocolate chips and oil. Next, add the milk substitute. Stir the mixture frequently until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth.

Finally, it's ready to serve with your favorite dippers!

A variety of foods to dip in dairy-free chocolate fondue

Dairy-free chocolate fondue dippers

You'll want a variety of foods to dip in your chocolate fondue (that's half the fun!)

Some of our favorites include:

  • Bananas
  • Strawberries
  • Cherries
  • Kiwi
  • Starfruit
  • Blackberries
  • Gluten-free sugar cookies cut into small shapes (no need to frost them!)
  • Mini chocolate chip cookies
  • Large marshmallows
  • Cereal bars cut into small pieces
  • Gluten free pretzels

Enjoy the fondue! And don't forget fondue etiquette: no double-dipping! 🙂

We do not have food allergies, so when I was planning a birthday party with guests who did have allergies (gluten and dairy), I was scrambling for what to do, and I couldn't imagine fondue without whipping cream!! So thank you for this because I don't know what substitutes are good because I don't typically cook that way. I made it with nestles allergen free semi-sweet chips and coconut milk. It was really good-the 12 year old birthday girl approved during taste tests-as did my husband and other kids-so I am not even going to make a "regular" fondue for the non-allergic guests. Just going to make this one for everyone.5 stars
